Terms of service
These terms apply to everything bought through rivercitystrings.ca. Placing an order means accepting them.
Who you're buying from
River City Custom Bowstrings is a brand of Tyee Marine & Outdoors, 880 Island Hwy, Campbell River BC V9W 2C3. That's the business behind the till, the invoice and this website. Our second store is Tyee Archery & Outdoors, 552 Tranquille Rd, Kamloops BC V2B 3H4.
Prices and payment
All prices are in Canadian dollars and are shown before tax. Applicable GST, HST or provincial sales tax is calculated at checkout based on where the order is going, and appears as its own line before you pay.
Payment is taken in full when you order, including for in‑store pickup. We don't take payment at the counter for online orders.
We may correct pricing errors. If something is listed at an obviously wrong price we'll contact you before building and you can confirm or cancel — we won't quietly charge you a different amount.
Orders
An order is an offer to buy. It's accepted when we send your confirmation email. We may decline an order — if we can't build for your bow, if the details don't add up, or if we suspect fraud. If we decline, you're refunded in full and we'll tell you why.
Everything we build is made to order. Nothing is picked off a shelf, and the current build time is shown on our homepage.
Your bow details are yours to get right
The set you receive is built to the year, make and model you enter in the builder. We check those details against your chosen set before we cut, and we'll contact you if the piece count looks wrong — but we build to what you tell us, and we can't inspect a bow we've never seen.
If you're not certain what your bow takes, ask us at orders@rivercitystrings.ca before ordering. It's free, and it's cheaper than a rebuild for both of us.
Safety — read this one
A bowstring is a load‑bearing component on equipment that stores a great deal of energy. It matters more than the rest of these terms put together.
- Have your string installed and tuned by a competent technician unless you genuinely know what you're doing. A string fitted badly, twisted past spec or pinched in a press is dangerous regardless of how well it was built.
- Inspect your string before every session. Frayed or cut strands, separated serving and damaged loops are reasons to stop shooting, not to shoot carefully.
- Never dry fire. A dry fire can damage a string invisibly and can destroy a bow.
- Check your bow. A burred cam track or a sharp edge will cut any string ever made, including ours. Fix the cause, not the symptom.
Archery carries inherent risk. You are responsible for the safe installation, inspection, maintenance and use of your equipment, and for following your bow manufacturer's specifications.
Warranty
Our sets carry a six‑month warranty covering peep rotation, creep, colour match and serving separation, with its own defined terms — including what we don't cover. Read the warranty here. It's part of these terms.
Returns, cancellations and refunds are covered by our refund policy.
Limitation of liability
Where a product of ours is faulty, our responsibility is to repair or replace it, or refund what you paid for it. That is the remedy, and for a set built to your bow a replacement is usually faster than a refund.
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss — a missed hunt, a competition, or damage arising from equipment we didn't build or install. Our total liability for any order will not exceed what you paid for it.
Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be excluded by agreement, and nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
This website
The content of this site — text, photographs, the string builder and its artwork — belongs to us and isn't for reuse without permission. Brand and model names appear so you can identify your own bow; we're not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for those manufacturers.
We work to keep colours, specifications and availability accurate. Swatch colours on screen are a guide — screens vary, and thread is dyed in batches. Colour match is covered for six months under the warranty.
We may change the site, prices or product range at any time. Changes don't affect orders already accepted.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version published when you place your order is the one that applies to it.
